How do I make an appointment?
- Appointments are made by submitting the Tutorial Booking Form on the “Tutorial Booking" page.
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 9:30-15:00
- Tuesday & Thursday: 9:30-16:30
- The office is closed for lunch 11:30-12:30.
- As soon as possible! Do not wait; the Writing Center gets very busy throughout the semester..
- No. In general, another appointment can only be made after you have finished your current appointment. One exception is that, if the Writing Center is quiet, you may make your next appointment by visiting the Writing Center office immediately before your current session.
- We ask that cancellations be made as early as possible. Please submit the Tutorial Cancellation Form. At the latest, morning appointments must be canceled the day before, and afternoon appointments must be canceled in the morning.
- In either case, the student will be unable to make another appointment for the remainder of the semester. However, the student may consult the office staff if the late cancellation, no-show, or failure to communicate was due to an emergency.
- If a tutor is available, you may be able to have an appointment on the spot. Please contact the Writing Center by email or come to the Writing Center office to check for immediate availability.
- Generally, no. However, in exceptional cases such as a group project, a tutorial session can have up to three students at one time.
- Yes. In this case, the student should bring the task assignment information. The tutor can assist you to understand the task and get started.
- Yes. Students who wish to write a resume or CV, complete an application, or prepare for a presentation or speech can work with a tutor on these tasks.
- If you are an English Composition 1 or Academic English Skills student, NO. All other FLA students YES. In addition, if you have a content-based paper, such as a research paper for a 400-level course, the Writing Center will consider tutors’ areas of specialization in order to provide the greatest benefit to the student.
